Soho is the area that is lies between Oxford Circus to Tottenham Court Road, along Charring Cross Road to Cambridge Circus, then from Shaftsbury Avenue to Piccadilly and then up Regent Street towards Oxford Circus.
It is in the heart of Central London it has one of the widest demographics of people in London, from theatre goers, tourists who visit London, homeless people who sleep in doorways, seedy red light areas near Berwick St Market, Old Compton Street, Ronnie Scotts, ad agencies, Carnaby Street the home of fashion in the sixties, music industry and countless coffee shops, sandwich bars and restaurants. I intend to produce a collection of street photographs taken at various times of the day and night in Soho, showing different aspects of the area.
This was our second trip to Edinburgh with Jill & Dave (wife's sister and brother-in-law, to visit our nephew and his girlfriend Eve.
Edinburgh is such a lovely size city to visit as it's not too big and you can get to see quiet a lot in small amount of time. Also visiting the Forth Bridge was a sight in itself, crossing Firth of Forth like a mechanical dinosaur.
With lots of different types of gins to sample a wonderful Easter weekend was spent
Spending a lovely weekend in Paris, one of my most favorites cities in the world to visit, would have taken more shots but I was ill on our visit, which meant stopping quiet a lot and drinking coffees in little cafés, every cloud has a silver lining
Spending a week in Majorca with my wife and friends, Gary, Shelagh and Matthew, we absolutely love Pollensa and it's our third holiday there.
Even going to the same places still bring enjoyment and they do a mean G&T in Pollensa old town, big enough for a goldfish to swim in
My main inspiration is a lifetime of living in one of he most culturally diverse cities in the world.
I have always loved the full spectrum of cultures that exist in London, from Richmond, Canary Wharf, Brick Lane to Dartford.
With a different range of architecture and historical buildings like The
Globe, to modern buildings like the Shard, they all frame the Thames.
By travelling up and down the Thames starting around Dartford where the big Tankers come in and dock (if I am allowed to get close enough to
photograph these) to Richmond where people row or just travel up and
down the Thames for pleasure.
I love street photographers like Vivien Maier’s, Umberto Verdolivawork and Pessoa N Beat, they are great examples of looking at the diversity of
people while making their images looking iconic.
